*facepalm*

In the Milky Way galaxy there are estimated to be approximately 300 billion stars. Out of these, it is again estimated that approximately 2 billion solar systems that are like our own. Breaking that down even further, it is estimated that 2.7 percent of those Sun-like solar systems possess a planet positioned, like ours, where it could sustain life. That means there are an estimated 54 million planets in our galaxy alone that could potentially sustain life.

Let's say that only only .01% of those actually end up developing and supporting life. That means, in the Milky Way galaxy, there are potentially 5,400 planets that can support life like ours.

That is just one Galaxy in the universe. Estimates developed using the Hubble Space Telescope suggest that there are possibly 125 billion galaxies in the universe. That means that there are potentially 675 TRILLION planets in existence that are capable of supporting life. Just like ours.

And yet, on this itty bitty little space rock, we are denying people birth control over matters of faith. We are denying people the right to choose over matters of faith. We are denying people health care so that we can fight for politics that support matters of faith. And when we are not making such decisions based on faith, we are doing so based on greed. We are, in effect, ignoring the quality of life for the entirely artificial concept of money, and because of beliefs that boil down to explaining for us what happens to us after we die.

Quality of life suffers, essentially, because we are afraid of what will happen when we die and because we want money that has absolutely no value in the larger scheme of things.

There are 7.057 billion people on earth. Multiply that times 675 Trillion planets potentially supporting just as much life. That's potentially 4,763.475 Trillion intelligent life forms in the universe.

I wonder how many of them are this fucking stupid.
